Everything But the Bagel Seasoning is Perfect in This Basic Hummus Recipe!

When I was testing recipes for my cookbook, the 4 Weeks to Wellness Cookbook, I finally found the perfect use for my favorite Everything but the Bagel Seasoning from Trader Joe’s! I was working on my hummus recipe and was contemplating which spices to add when I decide to give it a try! This sesame seasoning blend gave the hummus so much flavor–it was perfect! You could top a store bought hummus with the seasoning or make my super simple homemade hummus recipe and mix it right in (recipe below). The basic recipe is in the “Dressings, Dips, and Sauces” chapter of my new book.

Everything But the Bagel Hummus

Time: 15 minutes
Serves: 8


  • 1 15oz can chickpeas, drained and rinsed

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 1/2 cup olive oil

  • Juice of 1/2 lemon

  • 1/3 cup tahini

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 3 to 4 tbsp water (see directions)

  • 1 tbsp Trader Joe's Everything but the Bagel Sesame Seasoning Blend (and a little more to sprinkle on top)


  1. Puree chickpeas, garlic, olive oil, lemon, tahini, salt, and pepper in a food processor until smooth. Add water, 1 tbsp at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

  2. Stir in Trader Joe's Everything but the Bagel Sesame Seasoning Blend until well incorporated. Top with another small sprinkle of the seasoning.

  3. Serve immediately or stair in an airtight container for up to a week.

NOTES: If you don't have this particular seasoning, you can season as desired. My favorites are garlic and paprika!
